China Celebrating Valentine's Day

Today, China is celebrating its Valentine’s Day, the Qixi Festival (七夕节), or the Double Seventh Festival. It falls on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month of the Chinese calendar.

Our reader, Laura Volarić Horvat from Karlovac, who is participating along with 60 other volunteers from 15 countries in a three-week project has had the opportunity to partake in today's celebration. The project is organized by Jinhua Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office.

The Crystal Cultural Items

In the background of the Jinhua Homestay Plus Project this year (2018) the participants were requested to bring a cultural item made of crystal glass, which would serve as a gift to Songxi village, where the project is taking place. This would also be part of the idea the landscape group is designing during the following three weeks for the future tourists. So, the village received gifts from 60 people from 15 countries, but to mention them all would be too extensive. Therefore, we chose 6 countries' items because one of the lucky numbers in the Chinese culture is the Six. Here they are:

Best Time to Visit Songxi Village
